Apparel Team

The Apparel Team coordinates any maintenance to uniforms, management of apparel orders, and also coordinates laundering of uniforms. See more detailed information on specific duties below.

HOME FOOTBALL GAME

Verifying that all uniforms are clean and placed on the uniform rack (in the appropriate uniform bag) prior to the event - Washing uniforms or arranging for their cleaning – following the procedure of taking a uniform bag home, laundering the dirty uniform, and bringing it back cleaned/dried – hung up properly in the uniform bag) - Setting-up the uniform rack for band students - Handling uniform touch-ups or uniform component substitutions, as needed - Inventorying extra uniform components and collecting them within a designated container - Helping band students with missing uniform and providing loaner replacements from the extra uniform inventory, as needed - Assisting band students with their bib straps – adjusting the buckle or tying/pinning the straps together to keep them from sliding off the band student’s shoulder - Helping to collect the uniforms when returning to the band room after a football game – placing them back on the uniform rack in the designated order

COMPETITION

Verifying that all uniforms are clean and placed on the uniform rack (in the appropriate uniform bag) prior to the competition - Washing uniforms or arranging for their cleaning – following the procedure of taking a uniform bag home, laundering the dirty uniform, and bringing it back cleaned/dried – hung up properly in the uniform bag) - Setting-up the uniform rack for band students - Handling uniform touch-ups or uniform component substitutions, as needed - Altering or repairing uniforms to ensure that they fit properly on each band student. - Assisting band students with their bib straps – adjusting the buckle or tying/pinning the straps together to keep them from sliding off the band student’s shoulder - Inventorying extra uniform components and collecting them within a designated container (black socks, black shoes, compression shirts, extra jewelry)  - Loading the box of extra uniform components onto the band trailer before leaving campus - Helping band students with missing uniform and providing loaner replacements from the extra uniform inventory, as needed - Helping to collect the uniforms when returning to the band room after a competition – placing them back on the uniform rack in the designated order

PARADE

Coordinating with the band director to determine with uniforms will be used for the parade (weather/climate based) - Making sure that the santa hats/light strings are working and assigned to band students - Verifying that all uniforms are clean and placed on the uniform rack (in the appropriate uniform bag) prior to the parade - Washing uniforms or arranging for their cleaning – following the procedure of taking a uniform bag home, laundering the dirty uniform, and bringing it back cleaned/dried – hung up properly in the uniform bag) - Washing the santa hats or arranging for their cleaning following the parade for future use/storage - Setting-up the uniform rack for band students - Handling uniform touch-ups or uniform component substitutions, as needed - Altering or repairing uniforms to ensure that they fit properly on each band student. - Assisting band students with their bib straps – adjusting the buckle or tying/pinning the straps together to keep them from sliding off the band student’s shoulder - Inventorying extra uniform components and collecting them within a designated container (black socks, black shoes, compression shirts, extra jewelry)  - Loading the box of extra uniform components onto the band trailer before leaving campus - Helping band students with missing uniform and providing loaner replacements from the extra uniform inventory, as needed - Helping to collect the uniforms when returning to the band room after a parade – placing them back on the uniform rack in the designated order

BAND CAMP

Sizing band students for marching shoes (giving the order/quantity of needed sizes to the treasurer) - Sizing band students for uniform jackets/bibs (altering as needed to ensure a proper fit and giving the order/quantity of needed uniform components to the treasurer) - Sizing band students for t-shirts/hooded sweatshirts as needed - Consolidating the sizing information into a list format, as a quick-reference tool - Inventorying the current stock of uniform bags, hooded sweatshirts, t-shirts, and drawstring bags – creating a list of quantities/sizes - Assigning uniform bags to band students – listing the number written of each uniform component in a visible label and a list format - Sewing various projects (uniform alterations/repairs, flags, props, percussion instrument covers) - Distributing apparel to band students (“N” shirts, show shirts, hooded sweatshirts, drawstring bags) - Communicating with band students/parents regarding spirit wear orders (due dates, available products) and compiling an order/quantity of needed items to the treasurer

SENIOR NIGHT

Ensuring that there is enough coverage for this particular event, as each senior band student’s parent(s) will be spending time with their child during the ceremony prior to the football game and escorting him or her onto the football field prior to the halftime performance - Verifying that all uniforms are clean and placed on the uniform rack (in the appropriate uniform bag) prior to the event - Washing uniforms or arranging for their cleaning – following the procedure of taking a uniform bag home, laundering the dirty uniform, and bringing it back cleaned/dried – hung up properly in the uniform bag) - Setting-up the uniform rack for band students - Handling uniform touch-ups or uniform component substitutions, as needed - Inventorying extra uniform components and collecting them within a designated container - Helping band students with missing uniform and providing loaner replacements from the extra uniform inventory, as needed - Assisting band students with their bib straps – adjusting the buckle or tying/pinning the straps together to keep them from sliding off the band student’s shoulder - Helping to collect the uniforms when returning to the band room after a football game – placing them back on the uniform rack in the designated order
